For someone whose love language is 'Acts of Service' followed closely by 'Receiving Gifts' let's just say on my birthday I get to feel super special. Someone else is making the plans, booking the restaurants and doing the sweet thoughtful things.
Don't think that for a moment my love language makes me lazy - it has nothing at all to do with that. 'When people do stuff out of love (not obligation), one cannot help but to feel special'.
Do yourself a favor and check out your love language so you know what makes you feel loved and can articulate that to your partner.
I enjoyed a quiet breakfast at my favorite local; of course, I had my usual - 3 egg whites a yolk and a pancake with a bit of fruit (hold the syrup).
I love Island Plates in Speightstown simply because the service is great even though it's a 'no frills' kinda place. They are full of surprises and added freshly ground flavoured coffees to their menu just in time for V'Day.
Plus, they know my little idiosyncrasies and are not weirded out when I order whatever I order.
Breakfast was followed by some quiet time of reflection looking out on to the most gorgeous view. What can I say apart from the fact that I love being in nature; it brings out the best in me. A gentle reminder that I ought to spend more time in nature and then, I headed to church.
Yup, I admit it; my birthday was all about food and little indulgences.
Freshly caught fish (pan seared just right) and a light salad was the name of the lunch game because I had to leave space for dinner.
Unfortunately I was late for lunch and starving by then so I didn't even remember to take any photos for you - my humble apologies.
Luckily, I remembered to capture the moments during dinner. This amuse-bouche sent out by the Chef set the tone. I was pleasantly surprised by how tantalising it was to the palate; by far the most memorable 'dish' of the evening.
I am totally blessed by the mere fact that I lived to celebrate another birthday and I am eternally grateful. I also know that I love what I love and my desires will guide me to exactly where I need to be; I just need to listen and follow - no matter what.
What I know for sure, is that there is so much more life left to live; so many places to visit and so much more fun to be had.
Speaking of fun, my Fit Food Tour is coming up on Saturday 4th April and I'd love for you to join in the fun. These events sell out quickly so sign up and stay in the loop to avoid disappointment.
